My name’s Katie Louise Lindsay, I’m from Redditch Worcestersire in the UK. I’ve studied ‘Art’ properly since I was 16. I use mix media throughout my work, but specialize in Abstract, using plaster, clay, paint and producing installation’s. Since a young age i’ve been inspired by many people in and around my life. Being creative has been a very important part of my past, present and hopefully future. I feel that being creative and creating artwork’s has led me to become the person I want to be.
I’ve became obsessed with the human body over the year’s and have based a lot of my project’s and work’s on my own body and how I feel about today’s view’s of the ‘nude’ body. More recently my work has changed more than ever, maturing and growing by using material’s I thought I would never use and involve in my practice. My work at present is based on your opinion’s and not me forcing it down your throat. I obviously create the work I do for a reason but leaving it to the imagination is so much more fun! Scroll down to see my art through-out the years, the top being most recent and the bottom starting from 2009, enjoy!
From Abstract Painting to Abstract Installations, my next piece is what my most current work is ‘About’. I’m giving no clues as i’m leaving this to your own imagination. It’s called ‘An Accident waiting to happen’, 2011-2012.

I’ve always loved Abstract art, so now and then I paint and fit it in with my project themes. I love how each and everyone turns out, I don’t plan these painting’s they just happen. Done in Sept-Dec 2011.

2010-2011 project, ‘Identity’, I was very interested in hands at this time and my grandad had his hand casted for art piece in Oz to represent the old railway lines (which is no longer there).Have a sneak peak: http://www.disseminate.net.au/bridging_gap
To pull us closer together I casted hands in my family in England which I loved but this time round just didn’t get the hang of using alginate so out the blue started to making wonderful casts of negative spaces of the hand.

‘Behind closed doors’, 2010 was my first installation piece, rubbish pictures taken and rubbish exhibition placement. The idea behind this was to have a women’s personal belongings hidden away, as most of our possessions are forced to be hidden either being to ‘girly’, having an over powering partner or being very old fashioned and keeping personal items keep-en secret.

This is called ‘Distortion’, 2010, I mixed a variety of female and male body parts to produce a distorted look, is there such a thing called the ‘perfect’ body?!

This was my plaster work i did in 2009 at college. I studied the Human Body and loved the idea of having work that was quite controversial. I loved how my ‘Truth or Dare’ Vagina came out, it wasn’t a perfect cast but it works brilliantly. This was a great excuse for me to do a mold of my vagina naming it ‘bucket fanny’. The other pieces were practice pieces that I instantly fell in love with and used for final, they were named ‘deformed’.
